The Swedish electronic communications act is in effect since July 25, 2003. It requires that all visitors of a web site be informed what cookies are used for, and that such use be optional.
A cookie is a text file containing information that provides a technical means for improving a web site's usability for its visitors. This text file is stored on the visitor's computer. A cookie can, for instance, keep track of a language selection.
There are two kinds of cookies: permanent and temporary. At Bolagsverket's web site, only the temporary kind – known as session cookies – is used. During a visit at Bolagsverket's web site, this cookie is sent from the visitor's computer to Bolagsverket's web server for session-handling purposes. The cookie is automatically deleted when the browser is closed. Bolagsverket does not store any personal information in cookies. It is thus not possible to track visitor information.
If you want to avoid cookies, you can do so by adjusting your browser's security settings to refuse or ask for acceptance of every cookie. Such a setting may prevent the Trade and Industry Register from working properly.
General information about cookies and the electronic communications act is available at the PTS (The Swedish Post and Telecom Agency).
